Aare Alawo Etu – A Yoruba Story on the Dangers of Underestimating Others

ABOUT THE BOOK - SUMMARY

Are Alawo Etu is a classic Nigeria novel authored by Sesan Onibode. This book’s first edition was released into the public in the year 2022. This book is very interesting and has many Yoruba morals, knowledge and wisdom which we can all learn from. The core teaching of the book is passing a message that “Don’t under-estimate anybody”. Oversighting people can be eventually dangerous. We should not belittle anyone regardless of their present position. 

The story was centered on an ancient town named Eyinlaaro (colloquially translated to, one should think of aftermath). This town was being ravaged with different forms of disasters, war, famine, drought amongst others. All these make the town elders consult oracle for the way forward, and Babalawo told them what the oracle says, and the directives to follow.
